Stop Eating "Rabbit Food" and Lose Weight

I had a friend tell me the other day she lost weight but she was tired of eating "rabbit food". Sure, it may be more challenging to eat burgers and fries and lose weight, but there's no reason eating healthy can't have a lot of flavor and variety!

Trying new recipes can be scary. I get that. In my conversations with clients, one of the most common reasons they report not trying new things is a fear that it will take a lot of time AND they may not like the end result. It seems like an investment to buy all the ingredients and spend time chopping all the veggies to just throw it out at the end.

Investment rationale: But what if, next time you were making your favorite dish, you substituted one ingredient? For example, instead of sour cream, you can use plain greek yogurt and save yourself half the calories and double the protein! If you did that every Taco Tuesday, you could save yourself half a pound over the course of a year! Maybe half a pound doesn't sound like much to you, but to burn that many calories a person that is 160lb would have to walk 20 miles! If you added a can of rinsed black beans to the taco meat you would save about a pound worth of calories over the course of the year and be doubling the amount of food all for about $0.60! That same person would have to walk almost 45 miles for that kind of calorie savings!

The average American gains about 1-2 pounds per year from 18-49 years old. But, from making those minor changes to Taco Tuesdays, you could be well on your way to preventing that statistic from being true about you.

If you're feeling edgy, these Chipotle-Lime Cauliflower Tacos are super hearty and healthy and can stand alone or be served along with the taco meat and beans mentioned above.
Tip: I use frozen cauliflower to cut the prep time in half!
