The Psychological Reason Intuitive Eating is More Difficult Than You Expected

I have a transformational series with additional 1:1 coaching available for creative, ambitious, successful women who want to lose weight, heal their relationship with food, and learn how to feel nourished from the inside out when it comes to their body and every aspect of their life.

Most women who have reached a certain amount of success in their lives find it difficult to put their own health/wellbeing at the top of their to-do list even though they are masters at nurturing and supporting others and their dreams.

And the more she pushes her body through bouts of exercise and yoyo dieting to lose weight, the more tension builds in her body and she sees the scale continue to climb.

I’ve worked with countless women who are so good at losing weight and have a lot of knowledge about all the diet trends on the market, having tried most of them but for some reason don’t seem to be able to settle into a comfortable, sustainable pattern for long.

Many of them are drawn to intuitive eating because it deeply resonates with them and love the idea of listening to their body over someone else telling them what they should or shouldn't eat. "Eat what your body needs” feels so freeing and liberating and yet they find it challenging to implement this concept and inevitably gain weight leaving them feeling more confused than ever. This causes them to stop trusting their body's innate wisdom and things get worse over time with no solution in sight.

They're torn between listening to their bodies versus sticking to a meal plan someone else designed, and what she needs to do is learn how to listen and trust herself from her empowered feminine energy.

The reason intuitive eating doesn't work for most women is they're allowing their inner child to make all the decisions. This looks like instead of the child using food to meet her emotional needs (i.e. chocolate= reward or comfort), the empowered feminine adult gets her emotional needs met in other healthy ways. This neutralizes the pull of the appetite from junk food and instead fuels and energizes her to create the life, and inadvertently, the body that represents how she feels on the inside.

When the empowered woman is in charge of meeting her own needs, she begins to trust herself and is able to discern which foods/portions she needs instead of consuming calories for which she later feels guilty and ashamed. She no longer feels the obsession that comes from restriction and is able to more easily create a natural calorie deficit by choosing health-supporting foods and activities, guided by her own values, and her weight will become more manageable.

This is exactly what we uncover in my online program, Nourished.

In Module 1, you’ll understand the basics of masculine and feminine energy so you can begin to recognize how it’s been playing out in your relationships- especially with food. We get clear about- and heal- the wounds from old attempts that are currently convincing you that you can’t be successful if you move forward.

Module 2, we will empower the masculine energy to stabilize the inner dynamic and create calmness and clarity.

Module 3 is about using your intuitive feminine energy to create a healthy, trusting relationship with your body and how to translate that into better health habits.

Module 4 is a deep dive into the child energy- the one that is easily triggered and keeps you from staying consistent or resists taking the actions that would support your growth (tracking, managing portions, trying new foods, etc.)

Module 5, having clarified all the “players” at hand, gives you clarity around what specifically needs to be protected and the words to create healthy boundaries on your journey toward a healthier weight.

Bonus: I include at least 2 guided healing exercises in each module to begin shifting your perspective and making it easier to naturally make changes to your habits. In addition, we discuss meal planning tips, nutrition basics, and strategies to help you support your new way of engaging your health (Including how to help your family give you the support you need) so you can find an eating pattern/ways to move your body that are a good fit and have it feel easy for you.

The women who create the best results from this are ready to create a healthy relationship with food more than they are motivated by a number on the scale.

They have usually lost and regained the same 5-20(+) pounds and want to keep it off but find themselves sliding back into old habits when they “go off” of a diet.

They are open-minded and creative; willing to look inside herself and explore her own masculine and feminine energy in order to create healthier relationships in all areas of her life.

They usually have a strong pull toward healing and have often worked to heal deep trauma but haven't found a way to integrate it into the area of their health and wellness.

The self-study portion of the course (available here) can comfortably be completed in 8-10 weeks to transform how you engage with healthy lifestyle habits. If you’re looking for deeper integration and tailored healing, Email me at CSchandNutrition@gmail.com to discuss higher-level support options and we can schedule a time to meet. I’ll ask a few questions to identify the best fit for what you’re needing/wanting to experience and get you lined up to get started right away!
